Professional Queenstown singer-songwriter Holly Arrowsmith visited her old school on Friday to perform for scores of pupils and answer their questions, before she supported Anika Moa at their NZ Open concert.
Backed by the Wakatipu-based RockFormation charitable trust, the award-winning 20-year-old artist was the first musician invited this year to inspire Wakatipu High School pupils.
Hollie Arrowsmith finished high school in 2011, before the new Robertson block was built.
''The music facilities they have here are amazing,'' she said.
''When I was here we practised in the cleaning cupboard. There wasn't space for us all.''
She performed a 45-minute set of original folk songs from her first four-track extended play recording, The River, released last year, plus new cuts from her so-far unnamed debut album, out this year.
