A free screening of a critically acclaimed Argentinian comedy thriller will launch the 2010 winter season of the Queenstown Film Society tomorrow.
The open presentation of the English-subtitled 2001 heist caper Nine Queens was arranged with the distributor to give a taste of what the film society offered the community, president Tanya Surrey said.
The movie is the first on the slate of 25 art house and vintage films to be presented on the silver screen to society members at Dorothy Brown's Cinema and Bar in Arrowtown.
Membership costs $105 for the year, which works out as $4.20 a film, or a $30 ticket can be bought to watch any three films.
Screenings will be held every Tuesday until October 18 at 8.30pm.
Members can sign up on the night.
