The Polar Bare event at the Remarkables skifield is the highlight of Queenstown's six-day Snow Machine festival.

Yesterday participants joined in a mass downhill ski or snowboard run in which over 1750 competitors wore swimwear instead of winter gear.

Now in its fourth year, the event again attracted a large crowd, once again unofficially setting a world record for this type of event by surpassing 1008 people recorded in Sochi, Russia in 2016 by Guinness World Records.

Prizes were given for best outfits and there were three $1000 Powerball spot prizes.
