Lake Hawea residents are being advised to continue boiling their drinking water as a precautionary measure while the council's water supply body awaits approval after routine testing discovered E-coli bacteria in samples last week.
Wanaka's two medical centres told the Otago Daily Times there had been no instances of any Hawea people seeking medical treatment for ill health or symptoms associated with the harmful bacteria.
Queenstown Lakes District Council 3 waters manager Gerry Essenberg said two samples taken on Saturday and Sunday were "all clear" after contaminated results were returned last Thursday and Friday.
A high level of turbidity from the reticulation supply's Lake Hawea source is being blamed for the contaminated presence of single counts of E-coli found in 100ml samples of the township water.
Turbidity is the amount of "suspended solids, such as silt and other particles found in water", Mr Essenberg said.
The council's treatment of water, which uses ultraviolet light to kill bacteria, was "in some instances" not always 100% - especially when there was stirred up particles in the source water, he said.
"We're still advising people boil their water as a precautionary measure, but we are quite comfortable that the water supply is good now," Mr Essenberg said.
