The smooth eight-piece collective boasts the Polynesian vocal harmonies of singers Ofa Fanaika, Nia Falekakala and Nikkie McWalters, with the hot sax of Josh "Bachelor of Jazz" Appleby.
The Strings have shared the stage with the Black Seeds, Bonjah, Katchafire, King Tide, Olmecha Supreme, Rastawookie, the Bird, Dubmarine and Zennith, among others.
Their debut album Carnival was launched to a sold-out crowd in Brisbane, and they have been on the festival circuit ever since.
Chocolate Strings will perform free at Dux de Lux, with support from seven-piece dub reggae favourites Mad Faces, of Christchurch, on Friday, February 5, at 8pm.
They will then play the free after-party with the Sunshine Sound System, at Subculture, from about midnight.
