Lawless has cameo role

Arrested eco-warrior and Hollywood star Lucy Lawless guest-starred last week in the Top of the Lake television miniseries being shot near Queenstown.

The Spartacus actress, one of seven Greenpeace activists to appear on burglary charges in the New Plymouth District Court tomorrow, described the fun she had on location.

"Queenstown is absolutely gorgeous! Best honeymoon spot anytime of the year," Lawless tweeted.

Lawless has a cameo role as Caroline, the estranged wife of Bob, a real estate agent who crosses drug lord Matt Mitchum.

Outrageous Fortune star Robyn Malcolm also appears in the show as Anita, who is searching for answers and comfort from guru GJ at the women's camp. Malcolm began filming on the first day of the shoot and will be with the production for weeks.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
