A German tourist stopped for alleged dangerous driving on a treacherous Queenstown road told police he was looking for somewhere to pee.
Officers in a patrol car spotted the man (24) allegedly weaving across the centre line at the Devil's Staircase on the State Highway 6, near Kingston, at 10.15am on Sunday.
Constable Dan Andrew, of Queenstown Police, said: "He crossed the double yellow lines three times. When stopped he said he needed to go to the toilet."
The German was charged with dangerous driving and is due to appear in Queenstown District Court this morning.
