A 25-year-old man was taken to Lakes District Hospital with back injuries on Tuesday morning after a crane fell on him at a building site in McBride Street, Frankton.
Sergeant Kate Pirovano said the matter's been referred to WorkSafe NZ - which confirms it is investigating.
A St John staff member, who refused to be named, said the man was taken to hospital with a minor back injury and was discharged within an hour.
