Memorials are being planned in Wanaka for British rock climber, Matthew Allison (26), who died in a climbing accident at Chinaman's Bluff, near Glenorchy, on Friday.
The events have not been finalised but it is understood his friends are planning a "fluoro" themed get-together on Thursday evening, while his former Wanaka Wastebusters colleagues are also planning to acknowledge him during the Wastebusters annual meeting the same day.
It is understood Mr Allison's mother is making plans to come to Wanaka but further information could not be obtained from Queenstown police yesterday.
His death has been referred to the coroner.
