The established adventure company began operating the cafe in October.
Emma Cunningham is tasked with its day-to-day operations.
This year, Ms Cunningham won the cafe of the year in her hometown of Timaru before moving to Queenstown.
"Working in such a beautiful location overlooking the Shotover River - what a change from my last kitchen view," she said.
"We've also introduced a text espresso facility so you can text any order, any time and we will have it ready before you arrive."
Cavells is fully licensed and open seven days a week, providing an all-day breakfast menu, bar snacks, evening meals and the usual cafe fare of cakes, sandwiches and home-style "goodies".
Queenstown Rafting general manager Tim Burke said the Department of Conservation recently bought the building and had done extensive landscaping, with additional car parking.
"We are very excited to be there and bring an additional option to the residents in Arthurs Point. Already we are getting great feedback from locals."
Cavells Cafe and Bar is situated next to the Shotover River, Arthurs Point.
