7pm: Queenstown singer-pianist-trumpeter Alastair Monteath covers traditional jazz favourites for the Friday Jazz Club in Les Alpes. Free.

10pm: Original Queenstown electro rock trio PantherClaw take on Dux de Lux. Free.

Tomorrow
10pm: Auckland drum'n'bass duo State of Mind return to Subculture, with support from Downtown Brown, D-Jade, Tsubliminal and Randy Cessile. Limited early-bird pre-sales for the Subculture gig cost $10 from Dash Tickets online. Presales cost $15 from Dash Tickets, Quest and the Church St basement venue.

10pm: Urbantramper, a trio from Wellington, promote their "future folk" music EP Internet Freedom is Love on a South Island tour which arrives at Dux de Lux. Free.

8.30pm: Two films exploring the experiences of young women are screened to members of the Queenstown Film Society in Dorothy Brown's Cinema, Arrowtown. Every Good Marriage Begins With Tears (2006) follows two feisty British Bangladeshi sisters sent "home" for arranged marriages, while Frontiers of Dreams and Fears (2001) offers a glimpse into the lives of two teenage girls growing up in Palestinian refugee camps. New society members can join on the night.
