The sole secondary school in Queenstown announced last week which of its senior pupils would receive, or had received, distinguished awards to help them in tertiary education.
Andrew Benington, Andres Cavallari, Caitlin Jack, Caitlin Laurenson, Felix Moutakki and Jonty Norton received Youthmark of Southland awards for being "top all-round students".
Andrew Benington, Conor Dolman, Tom Gray, Caitlin Jack, Caitlin Laurenson, Grace Lindsay, Felix Mouttaki, Jessica Read, Ella Shirley and William Wallace-Blakely were each given $2000 by the Central Lakes Trust for their academic performance and based on their work ethic, community involvement, aspirations and financial need.
Andres Cavallari, Johann Kissick, Ryan McQuaig, Jessica Read and Ella Shirley were presented with $3170 by the Community Trust of Southland to help ensure equitable access to tertiary educational opportunities.
Caitlin Jack and Jessica Read were each offered $3000 by Massey University if they study at the institution.
Conor Dolman, Jessica Read, Tomika Terry, Georgia Wales, William Wallace-Blakely and Emma Woodward will receive $5000 each from Victoria University if they attend the university.
Tomika Terry and junior pupil Victoria Boult won the Mana Pounamu award for achievement, future leadership and being role models for Maori pupils.
Felix Mouttaki has been selected by the Model United Nations Association to attend the International Conference in the Hague, beginning in late January, as a New Zealand delegate.
Principal Steve Hall said the results were amazing on two counts. One was how well pupils performed and the other was how well the school was supported by community and academic organisations.
"I feel really proud of them and the school feels really proud of them," Mr Hall said.
"They're prestigious awards and it represents how well the students are doing and how well the school is serving them.
"These are substantial sums of money for these students' study."
Surprise special guest speakers are invited to the school's annual senior blues presentation in the Skyline restaurant tonight.
Commendations for cultural and sporting excellence will be awarded to pupils, with their families and friends in the audience.
