Ms Milne said the Dunedin-based Auckland artist (37) was expected to attend the public opening of the exhibition, from 6.30pm.
"Straka is a hot favourite in the contemporary art auction market and she regularly has exhibitions that sell out completely," she said.
She said Straka had created "the most damning and insightful works of recent New Zealand art history".
After completing a master of fine arts degree at Canterbury University's School of Fine Art in 2000, Straka was awarded the Ethel Susan Jones travelling scholarship.
In 2002 she was presented the Pierce Lowe award for excellence in painting from the Royal Overseas League, in London, and in 2008 was the awarded the Frances Hodgkins Fellowship and second prize in the 2008 Wallace Art Awards.
