Queenstown man got brush-off from NZ Post

A Queenstown man among those affected by a mountain of undelivered mail that now tops 20,000 items says he got the brush-off from New Zealand Post when he complained his post was not arriving.

Michael Legge, of Fernhill, told Radio New Zealand this morning he had raised concerns with NZ Post about three weeks ago after not receiving a power bill and other mail.

"I was quite surprised really because I told them there were three different things from three different places that hadn't come and their response was 'well they aren't sending you the mail'."

"I said so you're telling me that three different places have decided to stop sending me mail that I need? And she said 'Yes'."

NZ Post spokesman Michael Tull told Morning Report this morning he could not comment on individual cases.

A 32-year-old postie, who lives in Frankton with flatmates, was arrested on Friday after New Zealand Post had reported its suspicions over the undelivered mail, which goes back to November last year.

She will appear at the Queenstown District Court on Monday on one charge of theft by a person in a special relationship.

A second cache of mail was found in a room at a storage company in Manse Rd, Arrowtown, yesterday bringing to more than 20,000 the number of items discovered so far.
