A one-woman tour de force performance is in store for Wakatipu theatre fans when a poignant portrayal of a senior life lived alone is staged in Arrowtown.

Auckland playwright and actress Yvette Parsons (Outrageous Fortune) plays Irene McMunn in Silent Night.

Irene on Christmas Day regales the audience with stories from her past, such as the Tangiwai disaster and the effects that had on her family, her courtship and marriage to the late Len, and her relationship with her daughter.

Arts On Tour NZ is presenting Silent Night in a dozen venues around the country including the Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall on Sunday, July 29, at 7pm. Tickets cost $20 from the Lakes District Museum.
