Teen drives to police 'smelling of alcohol'

An alleged drink-driver surrendered himself to police by accident in Queenstown on Saturday morning.

The 18-year-old Queenstown male walked in to the Queenstown Police station asking for his lost licence and ''smelling of alcohol'', Snr Constable Chris Blackford said.

While waiting for his licence he admitted he had driven to the station and was then tested for alcohol and found to have exceeded the limit.

The man requested a blood test and a sample has been sent away for testing.
