Wanaka property developer Allan Dippie's company, Willowridge Developments Ltd, is behind the Three Parks proposal - a huge residential, commercial, and retail development on 100ha of land near Mount Iron and bounded by Ballantyne Rd.
The council has stepped in to process Three Parks by way of a plan change, which would rezone the 100ha site into seven "special purpose" zones to allow for the staged development.
The plan change hearing started last Wednesday and was adjourned on Thursday afternoon by council commissioners Gillian Macleod, of Queenstown, and Leigh Overton, of Wanaka.
Several submitters are scheduled to be heard in the remaining next three days, including the Wanaka Residents Association, the New Zealand Transport Agency and district council representatives Kobus Mentz and Philip Donnelly.
The Three Parks plan change hearing is being held at Edgewater Resort, in Wanaka, and starts at 11am today.
