Wakatipu's fingers were prised off the White Horse Cup in Queenstown on Saturday and the cup left the field firmly in Arrowtown hands.

Wakatipu did not let it go easily, desperately trying to keepits closest rival from breaching its try line, but despite being on home turf it relinquished the cup after the 30-20 battle.

At halftime, Arrowtown had put 25 points on the scoreboard while the home team had managed a commendable 15.

Soon enough, Arrowtown had added another five points to its collection, which Wakatipu matched in the dying minutes of the game although it was not enough.
