Works depot plan heard

The Queenstown Lakes District Council wants to designate a 1122sq m block of land at the corner of Tenby and Connor Sts in Wanaka for use as a works depot.

A hearing was held in Wanaka this week.

The proposal includes painting and repairing existing buildings to use as a depot for street cleaning and horticultural services.

The depot is expected to house between four and six council employees. .

The council volunteered conditions on the operating hours, noise levels, heavy vehicle access and landscaping.

A decision is being considered by commissioners Michael Parker and David Clarke.
