Lakes Environmental CEO Hamish Dobbie has written an apology letter on behalf of one of the his employees - an act he says is a first of its kind for the council-controlled organisation.

Wanaka parking warden Daryl Taylor let rip with an expletive-laden outburst directed at the owner and editor of weekly community newspaper the Wanaka Sun, last month.

After the incident Mr Taylor said he expected to be sacked.

However, when contacted this week he said he remained in his role as the resort's sole parking warden.

Mr Taylor declined to comment about the letter of apology.
