The application, by Melbourne-based Ninety Four Feet, is for the latest in a series of consents required to enable the development, which is expected to take over a decade to complete.
It applies to 224 residential units in the three buildings that are a mixture of studios, one-bedders, two-bedders and three-bedroom units.
The application says visitor accommodation is an optional use for the apartments, which can also be permanent residences.
It’ll enable "additional visitor accommodation supply within the Queenstown town centre and in close proximity to existing tourism and visitor activities on Brecon St".
The first stage also consists of 79 "co-living rooms" — short- to medium-term, fee-paying visitor accommodation with shared areas — as well as retail and hospitality space.
The development will transform about 4ha of the 10ha site — a former camping ground near the Skyline gondola — into five tower blocks, four hotels, retail and hospo space and public spaces. The first stage is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
