The seven kittens available were 6 to 10 weeks old. Three came from a litter in the trust's care and the others from stray cat colonies. Four kittens were snapped up within the first hour of the open day.
The cost of each kitten was $100, which included vaccinations, micro chipping and de-sexing. Proceeds supported the independent charitable trust's work to reduce the number of stray moggies in the Central Lakes district.
Mrs de Reus said there were seven kittens in the trust's care already after the adoption day and more were expected to need homes by the next adoption day, planned for the end of February.
