Secure your house, police advise

Queenstown police are reminding residents to check their home security after a spate of burglaries in Kelvin Heights last month.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown, said five properties were burgled in the Loop Rd area of the suburb on February 15-16.

Although the incidents occurred a fortnight ago, police had received complaints only in the past week, as people returned to their properties after being away for a few weeks.

Police wanted to hear from homeowners who had items missing or had seen any unusual activity or people in the area, Snr Sgt Enoka said.

The burglaries were ``a bit unusual'' for the resort, but were a reminder to be more security conscious.

She recommended people should lock away important or valuable items when leaving their home unoccupied for a period, keep vehicles parked outside locked and keep an eye on their neighbours' properties.
