You could say 53 senior Wakatipu High students are showing off in a good way.

Their 56 pieces of art — paintings, designs and photographs — are hanging in an exhibition at Arrowtown’s Lakes District Museum entitled ‘Showing Off’.

Pictured at last week’s opening is student Benji Watson Palmer presenting his art piece, on behalf of the school, to local Trinity Construction & Projects director Wayne Foley, to thank him for sponsoring the exhibition each year, and supporting art in general at Wakatipu High.

The students who created the artworks all received ‘excellence’ awards for them at exams last year.

During the exhibition, which runs till August 25, the public can also vote on a ‘people’s choice’ award for each discipline — the winners then receive prizes from Trinity.

School arts coordinator Stine Cooper says they’re also grateful to the museum’s curation of this event, and continued appreciation for the arts at Wakatipu High.
