Burglars turned on taps in 10 houses in the Five Mile Villas complex in Queenstown, contributing to $750,000 worth of damage.
Queenstown police said in a statement yesterday it was asking for the public’s help in their investigation of a burglary and wilful damage at Frankton’s Five Mile Villas development at the weekend.
Detective Senior Sergeant Regan Boucher said someone entered several properties in O’Meara St on Friday night-Saturday morning and caused damage estimated at more than $750,000.
It is understood about 10 units in the development, which were in the final stages of completion, have been damaged by flooding caused by the deliberate turning on of the taps.
Snr Sgt Boucher said he wanted to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the O’Meara St area between 8pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday.
