This year, the regional competition received close to 300 entries across seven regions.
An outstanding project by Henderson Building in Seaview, Timaru won the Canterbury Region Supreme House of the Year under $1m award.
In a statement announcing the results, the judges said they were highly impressed.
"The complex structure and diverse materials demanded exceptional skill, which the Henderson Building team executed with superb attention to detail.
"Henderson Building has delivered a sophisticated urban home in a traditional inner-city suburb. This home stands out with its distinct presence, while still fitting in seamlessly among its more conventional neighbours.

The project also won the New Home $750,000-$1m category and received a gold award.
Wilson Building Timaru was crowned the winner of the Craftsmanship award and the Bathroom Excellence award, and also picked up a gold award for a home in Mount John, Lake Tekapo.
The owner called the project “The Bunker House”, a name that does not quite prepare visitors for the luxury three-bedroom getaway reached via a farm road in the wilderness.
The boutique retreat is buried into a hillside, with only its glass front visible.
Judges were complimentary of the project.
"The house features an intricately constructed clerestory window at the back, creating a light-filled and uplifting space. Concrete, both poured in situ and precast, is the most visible material inside and out.
"This demanding material has been handled with absolute care, reminiscent of the best modern Japanese architectural masterpieces.
"The technical and logistical challenges of this build were immense, yet Wilson Building Timaru's craftsmanship has shone through and resulted in an extraordinary build."
Timaru’s Dimension Building also picked up a gold award for a home in Gleniti.
