The Fairlie school has surpassed the 200 student mark for the first time in a decade.
Principal Sam Nelson said the school was experiencing a rapid roll growth.
"We're naturally a small school and in recent times it's been relatively rare for us to be in the 200s.
"At the end of last year we dropped down to around 150, but we've seen a significant shift in terms of inquiries and enrolments with us.
"At the beginning of this year we had 51 new enrolments which was the largest amount of enrolments we've had in recent memory.
"It's a 30% increase."
Mr Nelson said it was an exciting time for the school.
"There's certainly some good things happening.
"Next year our numbers are estimated to be, and I'm pretty confident in this, 210+.
"I've got to do three roll growth future appointments as a result ... which is significant.
"Roll growth leads to a different level of strategic moves around appointments and offering different programmes which is definitely to the betterment of the students here.
"It's a super exciting time to be part of this school and part of this community.
"We are committed to ensuring we have the necessary staffing and resources to support this change effectively."
There was one big reason for the rapid growth, Mr Nelson said.
"Our catchment is from Tekapo to Cave, our retention has been as good as it’s ever been, we're a year 7-13 school and last year 100% of the year 6s in our catchment came to us.
"Once upon a time you had your families that sent kids away.
"At year 8 into year 9 we've historically lost students to town schools and to the boarding hostel — that is not the case any more, we're only losing one or two."
Mr Nelson put the shift down to the community backing the school.
"We're the heart of the community and from my point of view, we're beating pretty strong at the moment."
