Bus and truck crash leaves man seriously hurt

A man has been taken to Dunedin Hospital with suspected head injuries after truck and bus crashed on State Highway 1, south of Milton.

The incident happened about 12.45pm today.

Diversions were in place about 1km from the turn-off to the highway, a police spokeswoman said.

St John treated two patients at the scene, a spokeswoman said. One had minor injuries and was treated there, while the other person with serious injuries was taken to hospital.

The bus was not carrying passengers at the time, the police spokeswoman said.

It was not clear which driver was injured.

Crash on Southern Motorway

About an hour later, a separate crash took place on Dunedin's Southern Motorway.

Traffic was down to one lane after the two-car crash in the northbound lane about 1.40pm.

The crash occurred near the Saddle Hill off-ramp, a police spokeswoman said.

One person suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by St John, a spokeswoman said.
