Cannabis seized at two addresses

Police swooped on two Milton houses on Thursday, seizing several cannabis plants, making one arrest and promising to continue an ongoing offensive against drugs in the community.

Search warrants were executed at two addresses in the town at the same time.

Constable Mark Gill, of the Balclutha Combined Investigation Unit, said the first search recovered "a quantity" of cannabis and about 45 "tinnies".

A man in his 40s was arrested and charged with possessing cannabis for supply. He will appear in the Balclutha District Court on April 21.

Const Gill said the man was allegedly supplying cannabis to "the local Milton market".

Meanwhile, the other search recovered 15 cannabis plants but no-one was found at the time. Inquiries were continuing, Const Gill said.

The incidents were not connected, he said.

The Milton investigations were part of an ongoing Clutha-wide operation, targeting people involved in the cannabis and BZP markets.

Anyone with information about people and suspected drug activities is asked to contact the Balclutha Police Station on (03) 418-0203. All information will be treated in confidence.
