The doors will close soon on an Owaka store that has been the hub of patchwork and other crafts for nearly a decade.
Catlin Quilts owner Noeline Johnston said the demands of running the store seven days a week meant she had little time to pursue her love of teaching patchwork and quilt-making.
The business will close on March 31, but not before an exhibition of entries in the New Zealand Hoffman Quilt Challenge is shown.
Mrs Johnston started the business nine years ago. It houses quilts and other craft displays and sells associated products.
"The winter months are very quiet though, and I wanted to focus more on my teaching, so I've made the decision to close. It's just a slight change in direction."
The Hoffman exhibition will be open daily between 10am and 4pm. It is the only New Zealand showing of all 40 entries. Normally, the top 20 quilts are chosen to tour the country.
