Organisers of Lawrence's 150th anniversary celebrations have secured funding to employ a person to co-ordinate the big event.
They have also confirmed the major events will be held on Otago Anniversary weekend in 2011.
Committee chairman Wayman Roughan said the Lottery Grants Board funding would allow the group to employ a co-ordinator for a year.
The committee plans to reapply next year to try to get more money for the role, which will grow as the celebration date draws closer.
