Community groups in the Clutha district who previously tapped the shoulder of the local community co-ordinator are being directed to the internet for help.
The Clutha District Council has launched a community development web page it calls "a gateway" to a raft of resources for community groups.
It contains details and templates on topics such as running a community organisation, managing events, creating a business plan and applying for funding.
It also contains contact details and website links for more than 20 funding sources and links to other community development websites.
Council district development manager Julie Pearse said the web page brought together much of the information local community groups sought.
"We hope that the web page will become an interactive tool for everyone working in community groups and/or working on community projects.
"People who visit the web page are encouraged to share any special links or other information they believe will be useful."
There were also links to view community development projects in Canada, England and Australia, Mrs Pearse said.
She was sure the new web page would continue to grow with the impending appointment of a new Clutha community co-ordinator.
The web page can be seen at www.cluthadc.govt.nz/community.htm.
