
She said it was ``fantastic'' to receive the award.
About 13 businesses took part in the competition which was judged by Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan, South Otago A&P member Jo Jack and president Shirley Johnstone.
Mrs Johnstone said Mrs McLeary's display stood out as it had a ``wow factor''.
Overall, the calibre of the displays was very good, Mrs Johnstone said.
``Everybody put quite a bit of effort into it and some thought outside the square.''
Mr Cadogan said there were a lot of innovative displays.
Mrs McLeary's display was imaginative and ``fitted the bill''.
``It brings town to country,'' he said.
Second and third prize went to ProFit, and Ngok and Nancy's Fruit, respectively.
As part of the competition the retailers had to display the ODT and the South Otago A&P Show ribbons.
It was to promote the upcoming 150th South Otago A&P Show on November 26.
