Milton woman injured as car flips

Station officer Brian Cowie (foreground) and other members of the Milton Volunteer Fire Brigade check a Subaru Impreza which crashed near Milton yesterday evening.

A 25-year-old Milton woman sustained moderate injuries when she crashed the car at Moneymore, about 5km south of Milton.

Constable Craig Gordon, of Balclutha, said the woman was travelling north on State Highway 1, when she lost control of the car, which hit a culvert and rolled, ending up on its roof.

Const Gordon said the woman had freed herself from the extensively damaged car before emergency services arrived.

Two appliances from the Milton Volunteer Fire Brigade and St John attended, and the woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital with suspected concussion, bruising and sore ribs.

The woman told police she was distracted at the time of the crash.
