A Balclutha rest-home struck by a norovirus outbreak late last month has been given the all-clear by health officials.
Public Health South's Otago-Southland medical officer of health, Dr Marion Poore, yesterday confirmed the outbreak at Chateau Village had ended.
Visitor restrictions have been lifted, meaning relatives of residents are now free to visit the north Balclutha facility.
The outbreak, which was reported to health officials about October 19, initially affected 12 residents and seven staff.
It was not clear how many other people, if any, were affected after that.
No new cases have been notified since the middle of last week, and an extensive cleaning exercise last weekend signalled the end of the outbreak.
Dr Poore last week praised Chateau staff for the way they handled the outbreak.
