The rear trailer of the double-trailer unit tipped over as the northbound truck was making its way up the hill after crossing the bridge over the Clutha River.
Power lines were brought down and compacted metal, part of the trailer's load, spilled on to the road.
Detours are still in place and several homes remain without power while Otago Power Services repair the broken lines.
