Netball ambassador: Bridget Chamberlain (17) will represent Southland at the Netball New Zealand National Youth Forum in Christchurch on July 30.
St Peter's College head girl Bridget Chamberlain (17) sees her appointment as the Southland representative to Netball New Zealand's Youth Forum as an opportunity to be involved in netball's decisionmaking.

The forum, which takes place in Christchurch on July 30, involves delegates from all New Zealand centres and Netball New Zealand staff.

‘‘It's an opportunity for us to network and share ideas, to find out what other centres are doing and share what Southland is doing with the rest of New Zealand,'' Bridget said.

The group would also organise this year's National Secondary School's tournament, she said.

‘‘They are going to send me some homework to do so I'm well prepared for the forum and I'll be meeting Netball Southland to see what they want me to bring to the forum on their behalf.''

Bridget said the role had been filled for the past two years by former Southland Girls High School pupil Hayley Crofts, who had since gone on to play for Central Pulse in the trans-Tasman ANZ Championship.
‘‘It's very exciting to be selected for this role and I intend to do my best to be well prepared and to learn a lot that I can bring back to Southland and share with everyone,'' Bridget said.

St Peter's College deputy principal Lindy Cavanagh-Monaghan said for the Eastern Southland sub-union and for the school it was a great honour for Bridget to be offered this experience.

‘‘I know she'll do us all proud,'' Mrs Cavanagh-Monaghan said.
