Jenny Mitchell has heaps of home-town support as she prepares to perform in tomorrow's semifinal of the television programme New Zealand's Got Talent.

Several Gore businesses have shown their support for the Gore teenager by wearing T-shirts and hosting a window display, and Jenny said the Gore Country Music Club, of which she is a member, had been hugely supportive.

''That's my second home - they're just like family.''

She appreciated the support she had in her home town. Jenny will not be facing the judges and audience alone tomorrow night. Ten supporters from home - Team Gore - will be with her, including her parents, Ron and Julie.

The 14-year-old St Peter's College pupil appeared in the first show of the latest series.

This was the second year Jenny had tried out for the show.

She did not make it this far last year, but believed her talent had matured in the past 12 months.

''I've definitely grown. I'm definitely more aware of my audience and when you sing, it's for the audience,'' Jenny said.

When she appeared earlier this year, she sang the Dixie Chicks' number Godspeed, delighting the show's three judges, who all gave her a ''yes''.

Jenny attributed the experience she gained performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival earlier this year for helping her become more the artist she wanted to be.

From the 30 New Zealand's Got Talent semifinalists, three will be picked to vie for the top spot.

No matter what happened, she was prepared for the judges' comments after her performance but she had her trepidations, Jenny said.

''You're putting your life out there.''

She believed the judges would be looking for polished, professional performances.
