A man remains in a serious but stable condition in Southland Hospital after being shot at an Invercargill property.

Police are appealing for information after the incident in Brown St, Strathern, on Saturday night.

Inspector Mike Bowman, Area Commander, said police would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident.

A scene examination is under way on Sunday and residents should expect a continued police presence in the area.

Police urge anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour or vehicles in the area around 8pm on Saturday to call 105.
