Man shot while duck shooting airlifted to hospital

Emergency services were called when a man was injured after being shot while duck shooting in western Southland this morning.

Police said the 46-year-old man suffered a shotgun wound to his leg while he was hunting.

The man was airlifted to Southland Hospital and his injury was not life-threatening, police said.

"A number of other adults were present at the time the man was injured and enquiries are ongoing to confirm exactly how the injury occurred. "
