One hurt after collision with road sign

A person was injured after the vehicle they were in crashed into a road sign in Invercargill early this morning.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called to the scene at the intersection of Bluff Highway and Elizabeth St about 12.10am.

Firefighters, police and ambulance attended and one person was found with moderate injuries.

A St John spokeswoman said one person was taken by ambulance to Southland Hospital shortly after.

The vehicle was blocking one lane which was cleared about 12.45am.
