The fire-damaged boiler house at Alliance Group’s Lorneville plant is in the process of returning to normal.

Four fire crews headed to Crowe Rd in Underwood about 3.30am to put out a fire in the roof void on Thursday last week.

Alliance Group manufacturing general manager Willie Wiese said the team worked hard to get one of the boilers operational and normal processing resumed on Friday.

The second boiler was expected to be back in use this week.

‘‘The exact cause of the fire is not known at this stage and an investigation by Fire and Emergency New Zealand is under way. We have also launched own internal investigation.’’

No-one was injured.

The fire had resulted in damage to electrical cables, and both boiler units being not operational meant no supply of hot water or steam to the plant.
