
The January 7-8 competition attracted a full field of 16 teams with players throughout the South Island.
After two days of intense competition, the final was played between two Wānaka teams.
The team of Murray Finn, Stuart Hurley, Gavin McDonald and John Leith beat the team of Simon Nyhof, Ken Allison, Brett Simpson and Ken Wills by 14-11.
"We are fortunate to have seen games of a very high quality," Wānaka club vice-president Ewan Miller said.
"This tournament is a highlight of our year, and we are proud of the quality of bowls played."
The plate competition was also won by a Wānaka team of Bruce Robertson, Eion Willis, Ross Niles and Ken Muir. They beat a Queenstown team of Bill Grant, Maurice Keith, Ross Heron and Alan Brown 13-7.
The Wānaka Bowling Club has a membership of 150 members, and has experienced growth in membership this year.
"We are always keen to attract new members. Bowls nowadays is a sport for all ages," he said.
