Year 13 students Josh Moody 2024 is college dux, Amy Benson is proxime accessit and Tom Sides the best all-round student.
Josh has already gained 77 excellence credits at Level 3, with high achievement in biology and psychology.
He also won the Mike Sheehan Memorial Mathematics Scholarship and is tracking for an A+ grade in the University of Canterbury Mathematics for Engineering 199 course this year.
Amy Benson has gained 75 excellence credits at Level 3 and has completed four university papers this year, achieving at an exceptional level in all papers.
In 2023, Amy was awarded a prestigious New Zealand scholarship in English.
She is an accomplished musician who has completed grade 7 clarinet.
She is a skilled skier and mountainbiker and has completed her gold Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
Co-head student Tom Sides was the 2024 best all-round student, receiving excellence endorsements in Levels 1 and 2 and 3.
Tom also lives and breathes sport and served this year on the school sports committee.
He has excelled in rugby, multisport, triathlon, cricket and mountain biking, and is a junior coach.
He obtained his silver Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
Next year, Tom will study law at the University of Otago.
Also announced at the event were the college’s new head students for 2025: Ania-Kanu Saklani, Charlie Roy, Ryan Enoka and Lucy Radford.
