Fallen tree causes power outage

A tree has knocked out a power line in Lake Hawea-Albert Town Rd resulting in widespread power cuts for the next several hours.

A police spokesman said at 12.19pm a tree had fallen over on to power lines on State Highway 6.

The power line had "not been fully knocked over, but it's down.

The Aurora Energy website notes an unplanned outage estimated to last until 4.30pm.

Streets affected we Butterfield and Camp Hill Rds, Devon Dairy Farms, Domain Rd, Dublin Bay, Hawea Back Rd, Hawea Flat, Hunter Valley, Kane Rd, Lake Hawea Town, Lake Hawea-Alberttown Rd (SH6), Makarora, Makarora-Lake Hawea Rd (SH6), Maungawera Valley Rd, and Luggate.
