Mother Nature has swept aside any chance more than 100 curlers had this weekend of throwing down a few stones at an altitude usually reserved for skiers.

Due to a lack of ice, the Cardrona Curling Club has had to cancel its Curling at Altitude tournament, which was  to have  been played  tomorrow at the Snow Farm proving ground 1600m up the Pisa Range.

Club member Roger Gardiner said the ice  was covered in water and the weather forecast did not look favourable.
