Multiple crews attend Wānaka fire

Emergency crews are battling a 500 square meter blaze in Wānaka.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesman said crews from Wānaka, Tarras, Luggate, Lake Hāwea and Arrowtown were responding to the hedge fire on the side of Ballantyne Rd at 2.55pm.

The 500 square meter fire was spreading but it was not near any buildings or structures.

He said four fire trucks, two support vehicles and three tankers had managed to bring the fire under control.

Crews were working on protecting a nearby lifestyle property from the blaze.
