A defibrillator, worth about $36,000, will be presented for use in the Haast area by the rural health nurse service tonight.
A committee of local residents raised $20,000 towards the defibrillator - used to resuscitate patients and record their vital life signs. The West Coast District Health Board also contributed.
Fundraising committee chairwoman Annabel Taylor, formerly of Haast, will accept the defibrillator tonight.
