Repertory Invercargill is continuing its 90th anniversary celebrations with its production of Nick Payne’s Constellations.

Steered by award-winning director Aimee Marshall and featuring performances by award winners Maggie Watts and Taylor Barrett, Constellations is a beautiful and emotional, "what if?" story that highlights the enormity of small choices.

Audiences were in for a treat with this "short and very sweet" offering, Marshall said in a statement. "It goes through their relationship, starting with their first meeting and telling their shared story of the different possibilities that exist in different moments," she said.

"I like to have emotional connection in plays — real people, real emotions."

Originally staged in London’s West End in 2012, Constellations has attracted actors such as Sally Hawkins, Zoe Wanamaker, Peter Capaldi and Jake Gyllenhaal to its cast.

"If you're not crying, you're laughing, and if you're not laughing, you're crying," Marshall said.

Constellations runs at Repertory House until June 13. Tickets are available from the Repertory Invercargill website. — Allied Media
