As part of their nationwide tour, the Nairobi Trio will be performing at the Eastern Southland Gallery on Friday, October 10.
The band consists of violin player Richard Adams, John Quigley on guitar and Aaron Coddel on double bass. All players also contribute vocals.
They have 35 years of touring experience, playing in vineyards, village halls, theatres and festivals across the world.
They play original material, reimagined standards and popular tunes in their live show.
In a press release, Eastern Southland Gallery programmes officer Marcella Geddes said the group were "exceptional" musicians and entertainers.
"The Nairobi Trio are always exciting and engaging, and will have the crowd hooked from the start," she said.
Quigley played in several indie rock groups in the ‘80s and ‘90s before forming the Nairobi Trio in 1989.
He writes most of the trio’s original material in collaboration with his band mates and is also a producer and music business executive, with many years in music education and marketing.
Adams is known for his own Richard Adams Quartet, another fusion outlet Neon Quaver and also paints and acts.
Coddel has also played in many bands, starting out in Wellington before becoming a bassist-for-hire for many years in the UK. He joined the trio in 2022.
The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are available through the gallery. — Allied Media
